This collection was made possible by Jared Benedict of the Libre Map Project and over 100 map liberators (listed in the lower left-hand column of this page). This map was created by a user. Many of these topographic maps were used for conducting military operations during 1st and 2d World Wars, Cold War. DPS – Design Printing Services Company Limited – incorporated in 1995 – published its landmark Map of Yangon a.k.a “Street Directory of Yangon” in 1996. At that time, the government was the only organization which has the authority to print maps. D.P.S started digitizing the map of Yangon (Rangoon) from British era maps. Using Geomedia along with IRS Panchromatic satellite imagery from Intergraph, the satellite scenes are geocoded using Trimble’s Pro XR GPS. That is how Yangon GIS data warehouse complete with streets, schools, clinics, government offices, water and river, and last but not least – a Business Database was born. Our strong point is thus in creating and updating GIS database – digitization and data entry, GPS survey and map publishing. We have also developed Vehicle Tracking System using GPS and Compatible maps to manage transport fleets.

1. Once you have downloaded StatPlanet, find the folder ’Shapefile_map’ and then go to the sub-folder ’map’.2. Remove the included example map files, and copy your own shapefiles here.3. Rename your files (e.g. xxx.shp and xxx.dbf) to map.shp and map.dbf. Only these files are required.4. Open the StatPlanet_data_editor file. Click on the button ’Setup shapefile’ (in the top-left).5. Select the map.dbf file in the ’map’ sub-folder, and follow the instructions.6. Run StatPlanet.exe or StatPlanet.html to see the results with the included sample data.
You can now start importing your own data for the map.
The font and interface components can be customized through the Excel sheet ’Settings’.
